Israel Makes Its Own Decisions, Netanyahu Says After Talks With UK and Germany

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked allies for their support, but said Israel would make its own decisions in response to Iran’s weekend attack, following meetings with delegations from the UK and Germany in Jerusalem on April 17.

The footage released by the Israeli leader’s office shows Netanyahu shaking hands with UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, as well as addressing their respective delegations, alongside Israeli ambassadors.

“I thank our friends for their support for the defense of Israel and I say this, both support in words and support in actions. They also have all kinds of suggestions and advice. I appreciate it, but I want to make it clear – we will make our own decisions, and the state of Israel will do everything necessary to defend itself,” Netanyahu said during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

A statement from Netanyahu’s office also denied that Gazans were starving, and insisted that “Israel goes above and beyond on the humanitarian issue,” according to a machine translation. Credit: Office of the Prime Minister of Israel via Storyful
