Britain's Got Talent fans reckon they've worked out the real identity of one of the season's weirdest acts. The ITV reality show returned for its 17th series on Saturday night (April 20).

Fronted by Ant and Dec, it also saw judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli reunite. Among those auditioning on the opening episode was an anonymous 'comedian' called Bobby Goldfin.

Clad in a suit and an orange goldfish mask, the act received red buzzers from all four judges after failing to get his first joke out. However, he returned to the stage later on in the show. Playing on the myth that goldfish have an extremely short-term memory, he joked that he 'couldn't remember' being voted off.

The act's unusual demeanour and return got viewers talking. It also divided opinion, with some finding Goldfin's brand of comedy hilarious, while others just didn't take the bait.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts. @thatRobster praised: "The Bobby Goldfin thing is actually really making me laugh #BGT" as @Ian38711310 agreed: "Bobby Goldfin is brilliant #BGT". @ssssrrrhh added: "Nah bc Bobby Goldfin is the best thing about this ep #BGT".

Others didn't agree as @twittorerr commented: "New drinking game, take a shot every time Bobby Goldfin appears... #BGT".

Many reckoned they'd already sussed out who Bobby Goldfin really is. Fans shared their theories online, with some reckoning it could be a comedian who's already close with presenters Ant and Dec.

@Itt39354118 asked: "Wonder if it's Stephen Mulhern taking the p**s #bgt" as @AreYouS69668298 had the same thought, wondering: "#BGT Is that Stephen Mulhearn?" (sic). @Celeb_FC agreed: "Who thinks #BobbyGoldfin is @StephenMulhern? #BGT". Stephen had already appeared on our screens on Saturday night, returning earlier on ITV with a new season of his gameshow In For A Penny.

Meanwhile, @childofthanos theorised the 'comedian' could be last year's winner, Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn. They asked: "Is Bobby Goldfin really @ViggoVenn in disguise? He keeps coming out… one more time #bgt". @OorRoy concluded: "Bobby Goldfin is probably somebody that’s already famous. Reveal coming soon, no doubt. #BGT".

Britain's Got Talent returns on Sunday April 21 at the later time of 7.40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
