ITV Britain's Got Talent fans fume as semi-final act has hidden West End career
ITV Britain's Got Talent viewers have expressed their disappointment with a Golden Buzzer act who has gone straight to the semi-finals after discovering her previous West End career.
Fans took to Twitter as they fumed after learning singing act Sydnie Christmas has already had early success in the entertainment industry. Amanda Holden awarded the first Golden Buzzer of the 17th season on Saturday to the 28-year-old.
Sydnie, who currently works as a gym receptionist, put on a performance of 'Tomorrow' from the classic musical Annie. It impressed not only Amanda but fellow judges Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon.
The vibrant musician was thrilled to advance directly to the semi-finals. She opened up about her struggle to establish herself as a singer, admitting that she had often wondered if she had chosen the right career path.
"I was pinching myself. I thought this couldn't be real... this doesn't happen to people like me. I have wanted to do this forever. To be on stage, entertain, perform and sing... singing is my thing. I have been trying to make that happen my entire career", she said according to the Mirror.
However, despite her secured spot on the show, disgruntled ITV viewers have questioned her claims after delving into her social media presence. They discovered that the Kent native actually has a considerable amount of experience in the industry.
One viewer expressed their disappointment, stating: "It's a load of crap, ive just looked her up, been acting since 9, graduating from Performing School Art school, been in Starlight Express", referring to the ninth-longest-running musical in West End history. They continued with conviction: "Sydnie Christmas is a professional singer/actress already working in the West End. Thought #bgt was for amateurs not professionals. She's taken golden buzzer off someone more deserving."

"She's literally been on stage in starlight express and others, after her graduating from performing arts school", another viewer agreed, while a third chimed in: "Ah the 'I just want to be on West End' singer who has performed in Grease and Starlight Express. I'd respect someone so much more if they're just honest about their experience."
Another TV fan added: "She was in Starlight Express for 4 years."
This was followed by another comment from a Britain's Got Talent audience member: "sydnie dreams of being on stage? Seems like it's already happened? works front of house at a gym though."
The discussion escalated when another person shared a home video of Sydnie singing, with the caption: "Sydnie Christmas has had a long, hard ride getting this far. This is from 9 years ago."
Sydnie Christmas took to Instagram, where she boasts a following of over 6,656 fans, to announce that she was "hanging up her skates" after a stint of over 4 years on stage. In a post featuring a snapshot from one of her performances, she wrote: "2 and a half contracts. 4 years later. I hang up my skates. Memories I won't ever forget. People I will cherish forever. Thank you Starlight Express."
