Britain's Got Talent viewers are convinced David Walliams returned to the show in the first episode of the new series. The 17th series of the ITV talent show kicked off on Saturday night, with judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli giving their opinion.

They weren't impressed with a contestant called Bobby Goldfinn, who wore a goldfish mask, attempted to tell jokes. With the memory of a goldfish, he constantly forgot the punchlines leading to four red buzzers from the judges.

Later in the programme, he returned to the stage to audition for a second time only for the same thing to happen. Some viewers are convinced it is former judge David Walliams, who left the show citing a need to focus on other projects, amid a lawsuit against the show's producers, Fremantle, following the leak of audio containing inappropriate remarks about BGT contestants.

Fans pointed to the fact they had been allowed to return to the stage for a second audition as evidence someone famous was behind the mask.

One fan commented on Instagram: "This has to be someone we all know. He would never get on stage twice otherwise. David Walliams perhaps??"

"David, is that you??" asked another. A third commented: "I bet he is someone famous under the fish mask ."

Others on X, formerly Twitter, agreed. One wrote: "I reckon that’s David Walliams behind the goldfish mask."

"That Bobby Goldfinn act was very clever of David Walliams," another added.

It comes as The Sun has claimed that Bobby Goldfinn is actually an amateur comedian from Massachusetts called Bobby Finn, who has 335K followers on Instagram and 649.1K on TikTok.
