ITV Britain's Got Talent viewers stunned as they instantly recognise 'film star' contestant

Britain's Got Talent viewers were stunned as they instantly recognised a contestant on the show. Fans immediately took to social media as they were convinced a music teacher from Milton Keynes was actually a film star.

Mike was humble about his appearance on the show, telling the judges he had never done anything like this before. He then wowed them with a series of singing impressions including a spot-on Ronan Keating and 00s pop star Anastasia.

But viewers were convinced he was Mr Poppy, aka Desmond the immature nephew of Mrs. Bevan in the Christmas film Nativity!, which was filmed in Coventry. One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: "The singing teacher was Mr Poppy!," adding a shocked face emoji.

"That singer impersonator chap looked like the lead actor in the first Nativity film! Marc Wootton, I think he’s called. #BritainsGotTalent, a second fan said.

"Mr Poppy smashed that! Great impressionist/singer," a third fan added.

"The guy impersonating singers (really well, I might add) on #BGT is 100% Mr Poppy from the #Nativity films!," another fan echoed.

Marc James Wootton who actually played Mr Poppy is an English actor, comedian and writer. Viewers might also recognise him from TV series High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman, La La Land and Nighty Night.

He also voiced Max in Counterfeit Cat.

Britain's Got Talent is back for another show tomorrow night. It airs on ITV1 at the slightly later time on 7.40pm. Viewers can also catch the episode on ITVX.
