ITV Britain's Got Talent's Bruno Tonioli 'axed' and to be replaced by comedian

Britain's Got Talent judge Bruno Tonioli has reportedly been 'dropped' from the ITV talent show, with comedy legend Alan Carr being rumoured to fill his shoes on the judging panel.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 68, joined the show alongside judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon at the start of last year, replacing David Walliams. However, his hectic work schedule could mean he is forced to bow out.

The ITV talent show is currently undergoing a £100million revamp, reports the Mirror, which includes a change in filming dates, potentially causing a work clash for Bruno as he travels across the globe for Dancing with the Stars.

An insider told The Sun: "Once it became clear auditions were starting in October, as opposed to January as per the previous 17 series, it became clear Bruno may not be able to take part." They added: "He's committed to the US, but the new format for BGT is non-negotiable because the show will effectively be replacing Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway."

He's certainly made an impression on the judging panel, however his departure could leave room for Alan, 48, to fill the exciting role. It was reported the comedy icon had been in discussions with music mogul Simon Cowell before Bruno got the gig.

Alan has previously collaborated with BGT judge Amanda Holden on BBC travel shows. The source said that "conversations have only just begun", but hinted at Alan's potential involvement: "Alan Carr is a name that has been mooted - his chemistry with Amanda is already a winning formula - and he would bring a fantastic comic edge to the panel."

A final decision is expected in the coming weeks according to the source. While recent series have aired from mid-April to early June, the revamped show will now be broadcast later in the year, taking over the Saturday Night Takeaway slot.

Fans recently thought the BGT judge was being 'booed' by crowds during the live shows, however it was explained that the audience were often chanting for 'BRU-NO' which has been mistaken for booing.

Discussing his experience on the show this year, Bruno shared: "I enjoyed it so much! And as long as they want me, I'm on it, because obviously I haven't done it before and they allow me to be myself. They have all been so supportive, and for me, every show is an adventure, and that's how I approach it. One day to the next is never the same! That's why it's so exciting to be a part of."

He added: "It's been brilliant, it's fantastic. It's really, really good. So good. Everyone, they stop me everywhere to talk about the show. It's amazing and it's all kinds of people from kids to grandparents, the show is very inclusive in that way. I just love the way the audience has taken this show into their hearts. The show has that impact and I'm just so proud to be a part of it."
