Coronation Street enthusiasts have identified a significant problem as Lauren Bolton made her dramatic comeback. Fans will remember that Lauren (portrayed by Cait Fitton) vanished from the iconic cobbles after losing her job at Roy's Rolls.

Lauren caused concern among her friends and family when they couldn't locate her.

Police were quickly summoned to search her flat where they discovered signs of a struggle and a blood-stained weapon on the floor. Until now, viewers were convinced that this was the murder weapon that ended the teenager's life.

Her previous employer Roy Cropper (David Nielson) instantly became their prime suspect and he was charged with her murder and held in custody until his trial.

Fortunately for Roy, sex trafficker Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was ultimately blamed for her murder after he was framed by corrupt police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), reports the Express.

It wasn't until last month that viewers learned that lawyer Joel Deering (Calum Lill) was behind the teen's disappearance.

And during Monday's episode (July 7) it was revealed that Lauren is actually alive - and has been in hiding. The youngster appeared at Roy's hospital bedside, following his heart attack earlier in the day.

However, some fans have been left outraged over Lauren's return. Confused, many have been questioning why Lauren didn't come back when Roy was arrested and sent to prison.

On the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, one viewer remarked: "So Lauren's been in hiding for months, only coming out because Roy is in hospital? Why the f**k did she not come out when he was in prison? ".

Another person commented: "Roy is so important to her, but not important enough to get him out of Prison."

A third viewer expressed frustration: "I groaned when Lauren showed up at the to the hospital! Why now? It's a stupid storyline that's dragged on for ages."

Someone else voiced their impatience by saying: "Omg please end this storyline, it makes no sense. So Lauren turns up alive which we all knew wasn't dead, but why didn't she show up to clear Roy when he was in prison? ".
