Fans of ITV soap Coronation Street have been left unimpressed with Toyah Battersby's recent saga. Viewers have followed Toyah, portrayed by Georgia Taylor, through some turbulent times in recent weeks.

Her sister Leanne, played by Jane Danson, is entangled with The Institute, a supposed "self-improvement group" steered by the ominous Rowan Cunliffe, brought to life on-screen by Emhrys Cooper. And earlier this year, it was revealed that Toyah had been pregnant at just 19 years of age. Tragically, the baby was stillborn and Toyah buried her at the local red recreational ground.

The secret was disclosed to Leanne and Nick Tilsley, enacted by Ben Price, before Toyah found herself arrested following an anonymous tip-off to the police who subsequently discovered the remains of her infant, Rose.

Although she was set free without being charged, it wasn't hard for viewers to identify the likely whistleblower: Rowan. Complicating the plot further, Toyah has also been covertly seeing Nick, unknown to her sister, reports the Express.

Events took an unexpected twist in Weatherfield on Wednesday, 3rd July, when Toyah found herself rushed to hospital and receiving news of her pregnancy.

Clearly taken aback, Toyah was left speechless whilst Nick looked on in disbelief. However, fans at home were all repeating a similar sentiment.

On social platform X - formerly known as Twitter, a viewer voiced their theories saying: "Chuffing 'eck! I could write this! Knew that Toyah would be pregnant! And of course she'll keep it because that's all that she's ever wanted."

One viewer commented: "I thought this the moment they slept together."

Another chimed in: "So I said I liked Nick and Toyah and you gave them a baby! ? A baby doesn't even make sense toyah couldn't get pregnant I swear ARGHH Corrie you ruin everything."

Some fans highlighted a potential plot hole, reminding others that Toyah has previously been portrayed as unable to conceive. On a Reddit thread, a user posted: "I hate this. Toyah's story for the longest time has been her inability to have a child. This would ruin that."

Another disgruntled viewer added: "I am so f****** sick of the "barren woman eventually falls pregnant to an affair partner" trope, Christ it wasn't that long ago the exact same happened to Leanne and even that wasn't enough hysterical female misery, they had to kill the kid off."
