Upcoming episodes of Coronation Street are set to be a rollercoaster, with the cobbles bracing for some major shocks.

Spoilers reveal a significant twist in the Lauren Bolton case that will leave Weatherfield reeling. Meanwhile, Rowan Cunliffe's downfall is hinted at as he continues his campaign against Leanne Battersby and Amy Barlow.

In other news on the cobbles next week, Carla Connor finds herself grappling with DS Lisa Swain's daughter, Betsy. Here are all the major spoilers for the upcoming week....

Weatherfield is left shaken by a twist in the Lauren Bolton case.

Recently, Joel Deering was unveiled as Lauren Bolton's 'killer' in a shocking turn of events. Roy Cropper had initially been falsely arrested, charged and considered the prime suspect in the alleged murder of missing teenager Lauren, reports the Mirror.

However, DS Lisa Swain and newcomer Kit believed they had solved the case when they arrested abuser Nathan Curtis, who previously tormented Bethany Platt and was recently released from prison. What they don't know is that the real perpetrator, Joel, remains on the loose.

Joel could be in for a shock next week as a significant twist involving Lauren is set to unfold. In the upcoming episodes this week, Roy is unexpectedly rushed to hospital and receives a visit from a mysterious guest, leading his family to worry that he might be hallucinating.

Spoilers for the following week reveal that Dee-Dee and Nina are taken aback when a nurse confirms that Roy's visitor was a young girl with blonde hair. Dee-Dee informs Bethany and Joel that the police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine if the visitor was Lauren.

Roy is overjoyed at the prospect of Lauren being alive, but Nina is livid that she waited so long to return and clear his name, only to vanish again. The plot thickens when Bethany recognises Lauren's coat from CCTV footage at a pizza place in Leicester, suggesting that she was the one fraudulently using her old company credit card.

Later in the week, Joel becomes increasingly anxious about the Lauren situation and hastily arranges his wedding to Dee-Dee, setting the date for September 27. He then scrutinises credit card statements with Bethany in an attempt to pinpoint Lauren's location.

However, more trouble is on the horizon as Betsy continues to blackmail him, demanding more money.

While Joel is covertly handling matters with Betsy, Dee-Dee and Bethany persist in their investigation of the statements. They discover ticket transactions in Warrington and decide to inspect local soup kitchens.

There, a homeless woman confirms that Lauren has taken up residence in a nearby pub. Dee-Dee informs Joel before she and Bethany set off.

The question remains: will Joel reach Lauren before Bethany and Dee-Dee expose him?

Later in the week, Joel faces more trouble as Lauren reappears on the cobbles. She seeks to make amends with Roy and then heads to the Rovers, where Bobby offers her a place to stay for the night, much to Carla's dismay.

Coronation Street has hinted at the downfall of Rowan Cunliffe. Fans of the soap will remember the enigmatic newcomer Rowan, who has been targeting Leanne Battersby with his "self-improvement group" The Institute.

Rowan has also been distancing Leanne from her partner Nick Tilsley and even her sister Toyah Battersby during her time of need.

Rowan has been urging Leanne to confront her past and the trauma she has endured, using his methods to guide her in vocalising aspects of her life. In a surprising turn of events, it was recently revealed that Rowan has been secretly recording everything Leanne says.

As viewers will recall, Toyah has been worried for Leanne and highly suspicious of Rowan.

Recent episodes have seen Leanne depart for a retreat with The Institute, leaving without bidding farewell to some family members. Last month, it was revealed that Rowan and The Institute had developed an AI version of Leanne's late son Oliver, who sadly passed away in 2020 from mitochondrial disease.

In recent developments, Toyah has been tormented by The Institute and Rowan after her attempts to expose them.

In this week's spoilers, The Institute sets its sights on new recruit Amy Barlow, with more peril hinted at for next week. In forthcoming scenes, Leanne persists in persuading Amy to join the institute, but will she be successful?

In another twist, Rowan proposes that Leanne invest £40k in the business, an offer which leaves Leanne seriously considering.

Simultaneously, Rowan pressures Nick to invest in the new resource centre, threatening to reveal his affair with Toyah. Will he consent to the new business venture?

Elsewhere, Toyah is resolute in her quest to uncover dirt on Rowan and after rifling through Rowan's jacket pockets, she discovers his driving licence and reverse images his picture.

What will she uncover and could this spell the end for Rowan?

Meanwhile, is Carla Connor struggling as Betsy finds herself in danger?

In a sneak peek of next week's episodes, DS Lisa Swain's daughter, Betsy, continues to exploit Carla at the factory by shirking her duties and insisting on an early lunch. After leaving the factory prematurely, an exasperated Carla visits the police station to confront Lisa, but their conversation is cut short when Lisa reveals that Betsy has phoned in, claiming to be stranded in a dodgy part of town.

Is she safe, and could she be at risk amidst her attempts to blackmail Joel?
