Coronation Street's Claire Sweeney was in disbelief as she marked a special milestone.

The soap star has been a hit with fans since she joined the show as troubled Cassandra Plummer. The character has aimed to get her life back on track as she has rebuilt a bond with her son, Tyrone Dobbs, and her mum, Evelyn.

Claire appeared on today's edition of Lorraine to discuss her latest storyline and why she hopes romance is on the horizon between Cassie and Steve McDonald. The 53-year-old has taken to Instagram and said she can't believe how quickly time has gone as it has been a year since she arrived on the Cobbles

She said: "Always love chatting to @lorraine about @coronationstreet and my storyline with the brilliant @fat_dracula can’t believe I have already been in the show one year! Great to see Jill Halfpenny and thank you for looking after me."

Claire's co-stars took to the comments to praise her after the update. Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, said: "You look lovely."

Claire's new boyfriend, Ricky Hatton, also showed his support as he liked the comment. Claire spoke about the romance on Lorraine as she said: "I’ve known Ricky for like 25 years and always passed each other at events. I first met him in La Manga in the early 2000’s, then we did Dance for Comic Relief together 2013, and then we met on Dancing on Ice and it’s great."

She also shared one thing they have in common, as she added: "He makes me laugh and we both like Only Fools and Horses, so what’s not to like!”
