ITV Coronation Street's Institute 'to be destroyed' as legend 'makes triumphant return'

A Coronation Street legend is set to make a comeback, and fans are speculating that she's going to dismantle the eerie Institute. Earlier this year, the audience was introduced to the enigmatic "self-improvement group" known as The Institute.

The cult, led by Rowan Cunliffe (Emhrys Cooper), piqued the interest of Weatherfield resident Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

Leanne quickly became a member, much to the worry of her fiance Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor), who have both expressed their concerns about her involvement. Despite their objections, the Institute has managed to maintain its grip on Leanne, who is now introducing Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) into the fold.

In Monday's episode (July 8), Toyah and Leanne attend a new recruits session at the Chariot Square Hotel, where Leanne is thrilled to see Amy among the attendees, reports the Express.

However, fans now believe that a certain someone, show icon Tracy Barlow, is set to return to the cobbles to "bring The Institute down". Viewers will remember that the soap icon, portrayed by Kate Ford, bid farewell to the show earlier this year.

Tracy departed, leaving her daughter Amy behind, to move to Spain with her new partner, Tommy Orpington, due to his work commitments. In June, it was suggested by The Mirror that fans may see Tracy return briefly before heading back in the latter part of the year.

Speculation is now rife among viewers that Tracy's homecoming could see her rescue Amy from a cult. Fans have been expressing their theories on a Corrie Reddit thread, where one user stated: " It has been confirmed that Kate Ford (Tracy) is to return to Weatherfield sometime next month."

The same fan speculated: "My guess is she will be back not just to see Steve or her new boyfriend Tommy O, but her daughter Amy will be in a sticky situation as she gets involved with the Institute. Please god no! ".

Another chimed in: "Hope Tracy ends the Institute."

A third contributor echoed these sentiments: "That's what I'm hoping for."

While another theorised: "I think Ken or Steve will raise the alarm regarding Amy giving Deirdre money away and that's what brings Tracy back."
