ITV Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton star addresses her 'twin' as she spills show secret

Coronation Street's Cait Fitton has provided a behind the scenes insight on how she kept her major show secret under wraps.

The star is renowned for her role as Lauren Bolton on the Cobbles. Lauren has been at the centre of the show's major storyline as she was presumed dead after she vanished from Weatherfield.

However, it was revealed this week the character was still alive as she fled the Cobbles to evade the clutches of the villainous Joel Deering. Cait was fully committed to protecting the twist as she updated her bio and said she was "previously" Lauren.

However, she actually returned to set to film scenes in April and took to Instagram today to share a snap from one of her secret visits to set. She shared a snap with her dog as she posed next to a Missing Lauren Bolton posters were emblazoned on the set.

She said: "Hey twin. On May 12, it was the the family fun day - still secret that Lauren was alive - however couldn't miss the opportunity to bring my doggy to work."

Cait went to extreme lengths to ensure she didn't give the game away about her character. She told the ECHO and other press: "I had to sneak in and out of the building. I was getting lifts by [co-star] Calum [Lill], but I was having to get in the boot to make sure I weren't being seen.

"People would be at the front getting selfies and I would be in the boot still so it was a bit chaotic. It was like a massive game of Twister in that boot. When I was leaving, there's been times I've had to get on the floor of the taxi and had to tell the driver go, go, go."
