Heartache was in the air in tonight's episode of Emmerdale as two beloved residents, Nicky Miligan and Suni Sharma, took their leave from the Yorkshire village.

The duo has navigated through turbulent times together but have finally resolved to abandon their tumultuous lives and embark on a fresh start, reports the Mirror.

Suni had to cope with a startling revelation that his brother Jai had been withholding that their father Amit had murdered his sibling, who also happened to be Jai's adopted father, Rishi.

It was tense scenes on the ITV soap, as Jai had pressured Amit into leaving the village and surrendering his shares in the HOP after unravelling the truth.

Meanwhile, Charles discovered that it was the Milligan family who were responsible for Ethan's demise. In actuality, after leaving Nicky at death's door, it was Ruby who hit Ethan with her car.

However, upon finding a receipt for car bodywork, Caleb took the blame. When the dramatic episode drew to a close, Nicky announced: "We're leaving. Sorry mam it's not been an easy decision but we're going."

His mother, Ruby, immediately queried about their destination, only for Suni to respond: "We're not sure yet - travelling somewhere."

Nicky confessed to his mother: "We need a fresh start and away from here and away from my dad especially. I'm not interested in anything he has to say. We've talked enough. I'm sorry mam," leaving her no option but to bid them goodbye.

In a heart-wrenching moment, she embraced them, saying: "You take care, both of you. You better take care of him. I love you."

Charles has been visibly devastated by Ethan's passing. Kevin Mathurin, who portrays Charles, expressed his thoughts on the sudden demise of his on-screen son.

He said: "Charles has lost his one and only constant his son, who has been in his life throughout when other members of the family have came and went. Ethan has always been there, but now Charles has to deal with a life without him.

"It's going to hit the hardest for him, because Charles raised Ethan on his own and they've always been together. They've been the core unit of the Anderson family. For Ethan to be gone, it's going to be devastating for Charles to deal with."
