Speculation is rife that Jurell Carter has quit ITV's Emmerdale, but is his departure on the cards? The Leicester-born actor has been captivating audiences as the dashing Nate Robinson since he first arrived in the iconic ITV village back in 2019, but it is rumoured to be coming to an end.

Since entering the soap, Jurell's character, who is a mysterious farmhand, quickly became entangled in a sizzling affair with Moira Dingle, played by Natalie J Robb. The bombshell dropped when Nate was unveiled as Cain Dingle's (Jeff Hordley) long-lost son with Cara Robinson, leading to his involvement in a string of high-stakes plots, reports the Mirror.

Since then Nate's life has been thrown into chaos after his wife, Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), cheated on him with Caleb Miligan (Will Ash). That led to the pair's marriage crumbling.

Emmerdale viewers saw Nate return to screens on Tuesday (July 9) where he was seen sharing a pint with his mate Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle). The evening ended with Nate helping a drunken Billy back to Home Farm, under the watchful and critical eye of Kim Tate (Claire King), who warned him to keep quiet to avoid upsetting Billy's wife Dawn.

It was an appearance that surprised many viewers. One said: "I wonder when Nate's exit will be?" A second said: "Oh look Nate haven't seen him for a while."

Is Nate Robinson's time in Emmerdale coming to an end?

Rumours of Jurell's departure from the Yorkshire-based drama first surfaced last month when The Sun quoted a source who suggested that the actor had chosen to leave the the soap. At the time an insider said: "Nate has been at the centre of some huge storylines and his exit will be no different", the insider told the publication at the time, explaining that Nate's exit storyline will be one viewers would hate to miss.

"It will be dramatic and explosive and will go down in Emmerdale history. It won’t be one to miss. Jurell has loved being on the soap but he’s a young actor and it’s understandable he wants to spread his wings. He’s got a lot of talent - not to mention the looks - to become a big star and leaving the soap is the only way he can do that. Five years is a good run but he feels it’s time."

What has Jurell said about his Emmerdale 'exit'?

Jurell has remained tight-lipped about his rumoured exit from the long-running drama. Speaking to BBC Radio Leicester earlier this year, he said:"I was talking to one of the directors recently, and I was saying it was a shame a lot of the time in the industry sometimes there can be a snobbery in terms of soap actors, and we're deemed as 'not serious'.

"But I feel once you kind of work on a show, you don’t really realise how gruesome and highly intense it is, because we're working back-to-back days, sometimes 12-hour days, and we're tackling some real hard-hitting storylines. And it's props to the writers and the creative teams. But just as actors and also the crew, we just work solidly. I think sometimes we don’t really get our due credit."

He added: "A lot of the time everyday people are facing some of these subjects that I feel they can really relate to. So yeah, it's tough stuff, but it's amazing to be a part of, and I feel like sometimes soaps don’t get a credit as a whole."

Emmerdale bosses have yet to confirm if Nate is leaving for good. The potential exit of the Leicester-born star has not stopped speculation online though, with viewers urged to tune in and see what happens to Nate.
