ITV Emmerdale viewers 'can't watch' after new episode airs

Emmerdale fans have said "the story needs to come to an end" following one of the show's latest episodes. This showed Tom King find out the news about his wife Belle having an abortion, after she told him she had miscarried.

Tom got angry while Belle told him she "didn't want to hurt [him]", reports the Liverpool Echo. Tom had also realised Belle had packed a bag and was going to visit her niece, Debbie Dingle, so she could have a break from him.

The scene was then shared on ITV's Instagram and fans were quick to express their feelings about the show. The Instagram post said: "'You got rid of our baby, and then you were going to leave me.' For advice and support please visit: www.itv.com/advice. #Emmerdale".

User wilkinsclague said "this story needs to come to an end", while user jrr.clarke33 said "all the fun has gone from Emmerdale, it's all gloom and doom". User arc248 added: "I've got to say I absolutely hate Tom's character with a passion at this point. That smile when he saw her on the floor crying. The actor playing him is doing a great job."

User ardinacrosby added: "Have to give up this show. Already way overdone on this storyline. Now it’s just ridiculous. Point has been made over and over again. It’s a soap, not real life, so covering any particular topic this long is unsatisfying storytelling. Too bad."

Tink_0102_ had an opposing view, saying: "As a survivor of abuse myself I have to say high praise to Emmerdale and the team portraying this story line. This is played so well but hits so close to home I personally find it difficult to watch for my own personal reasons. Thank you Emmerdale for highlighting the real truth behind domestic abuse."

The Liverpool Echo approached ITV for comment.
