This Morning presenter Cat Deeley has apologised for comments she made live on the ITV programme. Cat was back at the helm of the daytime series on Tuesday, June 18, after causing complaints from viewers during the episode that aired on Monday, June 17.

At the start of the week, Cat and co-host Ben Shephard prepared to interview singer Meghan Trainor. As the show returned from a break, Cat could be seen dancing to Meghan's first hit single All About That Bass as it played in the background.

"Nothing to see here," Cat joked to Ben as she continued to dance. Ben asked: "You alright? Okay", as Cat stopped and said: “Yeah I’m fine. Just having a seizure. Welcome back."

Ben then uncomfortably laughed at the joke before the camera turned to the singer waiting behind the scenes. This comment didn't go unnoticed by fans on social media though.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Wow @catdeeley @thismorningchoose your words more wisely! You really think seizures are funny!? What a stupid thing to say and then snigger at!" Another person said: "Did Cat Deeley actually just say that! This Morning, not so sure people who actually do have seizures will appreciate such a stupid comment!"

Following the backlash, Cat has since apologised. During the show that aired on Tuesday, Cat paused the first segment, which saw her and Ben joined by guests to discuss the latest news and hot topics.

She said: "First of all, I just wanted to apologise to anyone who was offended yesterday when I made a light-hearted comment about my dancing style.

"It really wasn't supposed to cause any upset to anybody but I can see why that might have been the case. So I do apologise and I'm very sorry if it upset you.

Ben chipped in: "It would never be our intention, would it?" as Cat added: "It didn't come from that place at all," before Ben moved them on. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
