ITV has confirmed that it is making a Love Island-spin off for single parents.

Most contestants in the Love Island villa are in their 20s and there has long been talk of a possible series for older contestants.

The channel has now revealed it has something in the pipeline, by unveiling a casting call for a new show apparently entitled The Romance Retreat.

The notice says: "ITV1 are looking for vibrant single parents from across the UK who are in search of love, for a brand new dating show!

"This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown up children."

It says the programme "is a dating show about finding love as a single parent" and that it will require the participation of a parent and their adult child.

Hopefuls are asked to audition by the end of March this year.

Viewers were delighted to hear about the new show - and several said they wanted to see Davina McCall host it.

"Now this is something I can get on board with," tweeted one, while one predicted: "Bet it will be better than Love Island."

Somebody else posted: "Finally reality TV series to feature older people that have great life stories and are entertaining to watch, too many focused on the 20s bunch, many are zzzzz... bring on the older generation."

"@ThisisDavina tell us you are hosting?" asked one viewer.

"I will only accept @ThisisDavina as the host for this, and nobody else," said another fan.
