From Digital Spy

Sir Trevor McDonald was back on our screens with another hard-hitting and powerful documentary tonight (March 22) in Martin Luther King by Trevor McDonald.

Marking 50 years since the leader in the civil rights movement was assassinated on April 4, 1968, Sir Trevor travelled to the American Deep South for the documentary in order to try and get closer to the story of Martin Luther King Jr.

Over the course of the hour-long special, Sir Trevor looked back at King's infamous 'I Have a Dream' speech, following his personal and political life through the years, including the Selma to Montgomery marches – recently seen on screen in 2014 film Selma from director Ava DuVernay – and his final days in Memphis, Tennessee.

Through interviews with the likes of Martin Luther King's secretary, Willie Pearl Mackey King, as well as black role models General Colin Powell, Reverend Al Sharpton and Naomi Campbell, Sir Trevor uncovers new sides to Martin Luther King's story and highlights the influence King had in advancing civil rights.

And, through it all, viewers were quick to praise ITV and Sir Trevor for their work on the documentary, with many calling it "thought-provoking" and hailing Martin Luther King himself "inspirational":
