Jack Dee Quits The Apprentice: You’re Fired

There’s some sad news for fans of ‘The Apprentice: You’re Fired’, as host Jack Dee has announced he won’t be returning to present the BBC Two side-show.

Having taken over the reins when Dara Ó Briain stepped down, Jack has now revealed that work commitments mean he will be leaving the show after one series.

He’s currently filming the second series of Josh Widdicombe’s sitcom ‘Josh’, and is continuing to host Radio 4′s ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue’. Specials of his BBC Two comedy ‘Jack Dee’s Help Desk’ are also set to air this year.

Announcing his decision to move on from the show, Jack said: “It’s been a tough decision to leave You’re Fired.

“I’d like to thank the Apprentice team, BBC2, the candidates and the ‘big man’ Lord Sugar himself for making me feel so welcome but now, in keeping with the Apprentice tradition, I am firing myself.

“Good luck with the next series.”

BBC Entertainment’s acting controller of commissioning Alan Tyler added: “Jack is one of the most talented comedians in the UK and he very quickly made You’re Fired his own.

“We are really sorry to see him go but we are also delighted to be working with him on a number of other projects.”

It’s not yet known who will replace him - or whether regular panellist Romesh Ranganathan might perhaps step into the role.
