Jack Whitehall and Gemma Chan have split-up.
Having met on the set of E4’s hit series Fresh Meat back in 2011, the pair began dating and continued to do so for six years.
Chan appeared in three episodes of the comedy as Ruth, while Whitehall featured in every one of its 30 episodes across four seasons as J.P.
The couple are said to have struggled to find time to make their relationship work around each’s increasingly busy work commitments and are said to have split back in September.
‘Jack and Gemma secretly pulled the plug on their relationship but remain good friends,’ a Sun source revealed.
‘For the past couple of years they’ve both been finding it difficult to make proper time for one another and, with their schedules showing no signs of slowing down, have decided to go their separate ways.
It’s sad but they remain supportive of one another.’
While the split will come as a surprise to respective fans, the pair have had three months apart already and, as suggested, their work timetables are getting more hectic.
Only two weeks ago was Whitehall announced as the host for the 2018 BRIT Awards, which takes place in February. He takes over from duo Dermott O’Leary and Emma Willis, who stepped in as last-minute hosts earlier this year when Michael Buble was forced to pull out due to his son, Noah, becoming ill.
While Whitehall has the BRIT Awards and Sky One show A League of Their Own, alongside James Corden, Jamie Redknapp, and Freddie Flintoff; Chan is currently filming the new Watership Down series, having appeared in Transformers: The Last Knight and 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a d starred in sci-fi series Humans.
