Jackass star Steve-O managed to break both of his legs – and sprain his wrist – in an ill-fated skateboard stunt.
In the cringeworthy clip – filmed by professional skateboarder Tony Hawk in San Diego, California – the 42-year-old perches his board on a wooden box, and attempts to land as a speeding car smashes through the structure.
On his first attempt, the daredevil misses the skateboard completely and then lands on his feet, but appears to suffer no serious injury as he preserves for a second crack at the trick, this time only half-landing on the skateboard.
However it was Steve-O’s third attempt that left him screaming in pain after landing rather awkwardly, suffering multiple injuries.
“Final injury tally: broken/dislocated ankle, fractured heel, and sprained wrist,” Hawks wrote on Instagram.
After being rushed to hospital, the prankster shared an update with his fans and showed off his newly bandaged up legs, writing on Twitter: “Two broken legs and no painkillers for me – wish me luck.”
On Snapchat he shared further details of his painful injuries, explaining that the doctors had told him that he had broken his right ankle in three places and also broke his left heel.
Remaining relatively upbeat, however, he later posted an Instagram snap from his hospital bed, revealing that he was all set for surgery.
The MTV star spoke to TMZ about the debacle saying doctors set his ankle in a temporary cast and he will undergo surgery once the swelling reduces.
He added that he wasn’t able to take any pain medication following the incident, as he’s a recovering addict.
In short: Don’t try this stunt at home… or anywhere.
