Jacksonville ISD trustees take oath of office

May 9—Three Jacksonville Independent School District trustees, re-elected to their positions, took the oath of office Wednesday.

Stevens, Travis and McCown were sworn in by County Court at Law Judge Janice Stone in a brief ceremony at the district's administrative office. Best was unable to attend and will be sworn in during the board meeting May 20.

Todd Travis has been a JISD trustee for 15 years. He said it's been a great board and he serves with a good group of people.

"I continue to believe that Jacksonville is one of the best places to be and I enjoy being part of a successful program," said McCown, who joined the board in 2012.

First elected in 2020, Stevens has served four years on the school board.

He said, "I just want to make a positive impact on the community."

Josh Best, Place 1; Blake Stevens, Place 5; Todd Travis, Place 6 and Randy McCown, Place 7; each ran unopposed and were certified as elected during the February school board meeting.

The remaining board of trustees are Matthew Leinback, Place 2; Jill Penn, Place 3; and Dean Dublin, Place 4.
