Jacob Elordi Sniffs the Candle Inspired by His “Saltburn ”Bathtub Scene: 'Smells Like a Washing Room'
The viral candle is a cheeky nod to a scene involving Elordi and Barry Keoghan's characters in the provocative film from Emerald Fennell
Jacob Elordi is embracing the viral bathwater candle inspired by his provocative scene in Saltburn.
The 26-year-old actor stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday to promote his upcoming Saturday Night Live hosting debut, during which host Jimmy Fallon asked the Australian star for his thoughts about the candle that has been making headlines.
The scene in question sees Elordi's character Felix having a moment of solo intimacy in a bathtub, before Oliver (Barry Keoghan) proceeds to drink the leftover bathwater flowing down the drain. It has inspired several sellers on Etsy and Amazon to create candles based on the scene, with names like "Jacob Elordi's Bathwater," in a variety of scents and materials.
"Cailee [Spaeny], my costar from Priscilla, actually sent me the videos of people doing this," Elordi told Fallon as the host held up a graphic of similar candle varieties from different sellers.

"I wanna know who's making the money, you know? My first thing was like, 'Great, where's my money?' " the actor joked.
Fallon, 49, then procured one of the candles from behind his desk and asked his guest if he wanted to test out the scent for himself.
After the host unscrewed the cap, Elordi picked up the candle and gave it a whiff — and even pretended to give it a good slurp, mimicking Keoghan's character in the film.
"Smells like a washing room. Like detergent," Elordi said with a laugh. "His clothes are clean."
Keoghan, 31, joked to Variety in Los Angeles earlier this month that he "already [has] 10 of" the viral bathwater candles inspired by the scene.

Saltburn writer/director Emerald Fennell recently spoke with PEOPLE about the messages in her boundary-pushing film, including the bathtub moment.
“What I'm saying with that scene,” she said, “is I think that scene is the sexiest thing I've ever seen in my life … And I'm saying that anyone else is safe to feel that.”
Lapping up bathwater marks only the beginning of Oliver’s alarming fixation on Felix and his wealthy family (played by Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver and Archie Madekwe).
With later Saltburn scenes involving late-night trysts and graveside self-gratification, Fennell, 38, said, “We wanted to present the feeling of that locust love: impossible, carnivorous, forever, impossible vampire love. I think that that is what we did and every single person making this film did the most unbelievable job.”
Saltburn is now streaming on Prime Video.
