Jacob Rees-Mogg, the former Tory MP, is reportedly filming a reality TV series in the style of the Kardashians about his family life.

Rees-Mogg, who recently lost his North East Somerset and Hanham seat to Labour's Dan Norris, appears to be following the trend of politicians-turned-reality stars like Nigel Farage and Matt Hancock. Both Farage and Hancock sparked mixed reactions when they appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! with a year between their appearances.

A source has suggested that the five-part documentary series will be promoted as 'the British version of the Kardashians'. The Discovery+ series, rumoured to be named 'Meet The Moggs', is said to feature his wife Helena and their six children Sixtus, Peter, Mary, Thomas, Anselm and Alfred.

"Jacob and his family have been filming for the last couple of months but no one expected the General Election to be announced," an insider disclosed, referring to the July 4 election. "It was gold for the show however and gave a real insight into what family is like for working MPs.", reports Somerset Live.

Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "His son Peter is really keen to make a name for himself in TV so he has been front and centre."

They noted that the series will be 'warts and all' and that the crew were surprised by 'how much they love Jacob' and how much of a 'treat' he is to work with, despite his controversial views.

A strongly conservative Catholic, the politician firmly opposes abortion and has often emphasised that 'life begins and the point of conception'. His voting history showcases a twice supported motion for the repeal of the Human Rights Act during his MPs tenure and he was an active campaigner in the pivotal 2016 Brexit referendum pushing for the UK's EU departure.

Seen as one of Boris Johnson's reliable allies, he was promoted to the role of the House of Commons leader in 2019. On the topic of same-sex marriage, he disclosed his misgivings, admitting he was 'not proud' of its being legalised.

Rees-Mogg's presence in the media also extends to GB News where he has hosted a show. But two episodes of this program were found by Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, to breach impartiality rules.

The Eton-graduate shared candidly with The Mirror his passion for having a large family, saying "We have as many as possible, but as Helena does all the hard work I think six will be it." Light-heartedly, he labelled parenting as being "jolly hard work for the nanny". Additionally, he expressed his personal aspiration for a child-numbers equal to a cricket team."
