Jade Thirlwall responds to Simon Cowell feud rumours

Jade Thirlwall has responded to rumours that she is feuding with Simon Cowell.

Earlier this week, the former Little Mix star and X Factor contestant announced her long-awaited debut solo single, Angel of My Dreams.

Following the news of the forthcoming single, which is due for release on 19 July, fans have speculated that the track is a swipe at X Factor boss Simon.

It has been reported that the music video for the song shows a young girl seeking fame while a mysterious cigar-smoking man controls the music industry.

The song also features the line, "Sold my soul to a psycho", seemingly referring to Simon's former record label, SyCo.

Addressing the speculation, Jade told Beat magazine, "It's not specifically about that. But I wanted the song to be my journey, from entering the music business to now, and what that felt like."

"That's why the song feels so chaotic," the 31-year-old continued. "The opening is like the music to that montage bit on The X Factor after you've won and you're just catapulted into the industry."

Jade shot to fame as a member of Little Mix during The X Factor in 2011, alongside Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Jesy left the group in December 2020 and the remaining trio went on hiatus in 2022.

The Black Magic hitmaker also explained that she has a complicated relationship with the music industry.

"I don't want to sit here and bash the last 13 years of my life. I'm very happy and content," she told the publication. "But like with any job, there are highs and lows. That's just life, and it's my reality, but it's about writing it in a way that's not woe is me."
