Jaden Brown sealed his St Mirren return and insists he’s here for the big games north of the border.

The 25-year-old full-back left Sky Bet League One side Lincoln City to sign a two-year contract with the Buddies before jetting out with the rest of the squad for a Spanish training camp.

Brown spent the second half of the last campaign on loan at the SMiSA Stadium – making eight appearances as the club finished fifth in the Premiership and qualified for the UEFA Conference League.

Now he has rekindled his Paisley love affair and is intent on showing the black-and-white army what he is made of.

“I’m buzzing to be back,” he told the club website. “I loved my time on loan here at the club last season. I didn’t get as many games as I wanted to but it’s important to be in and around good people and it was a successful group, qualifying for Europe.

“You want to play in the big games and play in the biggest competitions so it’s a great opportunity to showcase what I’m about.

“Hopefully I can come in and hit the ground running.” Brown offers versatility but will compete and provide cover for both wing-back positions.

Buddies boss Stephen Robinson is delighted to have added Brown to his group with keeper Ellery Balcombe, defender Shaun Rooney and midfielders Oisin Smyth and Roland Idowu already part of the new recruit ranks.

“I don’t think people have seen the best of Jaden,” the manager said. “He arrived here without a lot of game time and towards the end of his loan we were really impressed with him.

“We had no direct competition for Scott Tanser at left-wing back so it was important we have that level of competition.

“Jaden can also play in numerous different positions further forward and on the right-hand side so he certainly strengthens our squad.

“It makes the fight for starting places harder for everybody which is how you progress.”
