Jake Gyllenhaal's new movie The Covenant has been released on Prime Video UK.

The recent war thriller is directed by Guy Ritchie, and follows Gyllenhaal's character, army sergeant John Kinley, during his final tour of Afghanistan.

There, he is teamed up with local interpreter Ahmed (Dar Salim), who ends up risking his life as he carries an injured John to safety.

Prime Video subscribers in the UK can now watch the movie in full on the platform for free, which comes after its cinema release in April.

Alongside the two aforementioned stars, the movie boasts an impressive cast including Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), Antony Starr (The Boys), Jason Wong (The Gentlemen), Bobby Schofield (SAS Rogue Heroes), Sean Sagar (Our Girl), Sina Parvaneh (Holy Spider), Emily Beecham (1899), Cyrus Khodaveisi and Christian Ochoa (Glow).

The movie was co-written between Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, while Ritchie and Atkinson produced alongside John Friedberg and Josh Berger.

As well as The Covenant, Gyllenhaal recently starred in Disney movie Strange World, and spoke to Digital Spy last year about his personal connection to the project.

"I think I was so moved by it because I think, in family, there's so much we want, right? There's so much we want," he said.

"We want to be understood. We want to be heard. We want to understand, and there's so much that we won't be able to.

"We're just all searching through all the stuff to get to hopefully a connection of love, you know, and that's what this movie is about."

The Covenant is available to watch now on Prime Video UK.
