Jake Quickenden has won praise after undergoing a testicular examination on live television.

The former X Factor star had the check performed on Loose Women, which had become Loose Men, with an all-male panel for the day.

The star, 34 - who lost both his dad and his brother to cancer - appeared on the ITV show in a robe as he was examined by doctor Amir Khan.

"The reason I'm doing this today, even if it helps one person - if this helps someone then that's all that matters really," he said.

Viewers were impressed, flocking to Twitter to say how "brave" the star was for baring all and having the check done on live television.

One tweeted: "Well done Jake! So hard to get men to get round to be checked out."

Another said: "Took some balls for Jake to do that!! Good on him...check yourselves, guys."

"I think it's so fab that @JakeQuickenden has been brave enough to receive a testicular examination from @DrAmirKhanGP live on the show - well done Jake!!" said somebody else.

"Well done Jake.....I was holding me breath for him!!" tweeted another viewer.

"You’re a star for doing that on TV," said another.

One posted: "Top respect to #LooseMen, Jake Quickenden and the Doc for showing how easy it is to save a life, and one day it could be your own."

"Massive respect to Jake Quickenden," said one fan.

Quickenden's dad Paul died in 2008 after battling bone cancer.

His brother Oliver was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2010 and died in 2012 at the age of 19.
