Arsenal will look to strengthen Mikel Arteta's squad in the summer transfer window. A new winger and striker has been prioritised early on, but other roles in the squad could look to be improved.

With players expected to be sold to raise funds, the possibility for another attack-minded midfielder being signed could be on the cards. The Gunners currently use Martin Odegaard as the most advanced of the midfield trio, but there has been few options away from the club captain.

Fabio Vieiria's move from Porto in 2022 hasn't lived up to expectations for one reason or another. Emile Smith Rowe has enjoyed limited minutes this season with injuries and selection decisions from Arteta.

Jamal Musiala has been linked with a move to the Premier League after his impressive performances with Bayern Munich. His current deal at the Allianz Arena runs until 2026, but he is yet to sign a new contract.

He is understood to have rejected a new contract in Bavaria to open the door with a move back to England. Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have been widely tipped with interest, but Arsenal could have a double-secret weapon to sign the Germany international.

Arsenal loanee Mike Biereth, who has 20 goal involvements in 26 matches this season, has revealed he is best friends with the Bayern star. "Jamal Musiala is my best friend," he told Tipsbladet.

"We grew up together and went to school together. I played with him at Chelsea. He is truly like a brother to me, and we are in contact every single day. In fact, I spoke with him 10 minutes before this interview. I congratulated him on playing as number 10 for Germany in the Euros.

"Our relationship isn't so much about football. Of course, we talk about football and support each other, but most of the time we talk about all sorts of other things.

"As I said, we rarely talk about football, and I actually think it helps keep us sharp. Often, you get deeply sucked into all this football stuff, and it's nice to have someone you can talk about anything else with."

However, Arsenal could have another secret weapon to use. Following Wednesday night's Champions League win over the Gunners, Musiala posted an image of himself and Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal can use that to their advantage should they wish to enter negotiations ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Man City.
