Watch: James Argent discusses weight loss with Lorraine
Argent told Lorraine: "I haven’t suffered too badly with excess skin, but I’m not going to lie, around the stomach area there is a bit of excess skin.
"Obviously I’m conscious when I wear my swimming shorts around the swimming pool – you know the old Simon Cowell style, I have my swimming shorts right up where my belly button is.
"But that’s something I’m going to have to address. I’m quite lucky really. It’s not too bad. There is excess skin, but it’s minimal.”
Argent has previously revealed how he replaced his reliance of drink and drugs with a junk food addiction, and admitted to yo-yo dieting over the years.
But he insisted his gastric surgery had not been a quick fix.
The reality TV star said: “It wasn’t that I suddenly put on weight and did something drastic. I struggled with my weight up and down for many many years. A lot of diets. For me, it just worked.”
He admitted that the change to his lifestyle since having the gastric sleeve fitted had been “a bit of a shock to the system”. But he said he has learned to adjust.
He said: “You go from binge eating, overeating, to all of a sudden you’re only on liquids and minimal amounts of food.
"It’s just getting your mind right. But as the weight drops down you start feeling fitter, you start feeling healthier.”
Argent previously revealed doctors had warned him his life was at risk when he ballooned to 27 stone and received the gastric operation was the only way to save his life.
In order to prepare for the procedure he had to limit his food intake to 1,000 calories a day and keep his BMI below 50.
His goal weight was originally 16 stone in 18 months but he has surpassed that by losing 13 stone in less than a year.
