Jamie Foxx breaks character after flubbing line in live TV sitcom episode

Jamie Foxx broke character in a live episode of a comedy TV sitcom after messing up one of his lines.

The actor was appearing in Jimmy Kimmel's remakes of classic Norman Lear series The Jeffersons and All in the Family.

Foxx, playing the lead character George Jefferson, flubbed a line in front of a studio audience and, rather than continuing, instead decided to say: "It's live."

Breaking character, he turned to his fellow cast members, adding: “Everyone sitting at home thinking their TV just messed up.”

The Oscar-winning actor used the moment to remember his line and, after getting back to the script, was rewarded with a round of applause from the audience.

The live special celebrated the sitcoms, which were originally broadcast in the 1970s. Other stars to appear included Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Hudson and Marisa Tomei.

Foxx's film credits include Ray, Django Unchained and Collateral.
