Jamie Lee Curtis delights fans as she praises Sarah Lancashire for Happy Valley performance

In a world where social media is too often used for negative purposes it can be nice to see a positive exchange for once, and Jamie Lee Curtis delighted fans on Thursday, 13 July with an unexpected one.

The Knives Out actor took to social media to praise the series Happy Valley, and she made sure to share her gratitude with star Sarah Lancashire and creator Sally Wainwright.

Happy Valley is a BBC crime drama set in Yorkshire in which Lancashire portrays Police Sergeant Catherine Cawood, and it follows her quest to catch rapist Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton) who abused her daughter in the past and pushed her to take her own life.

Curtis was particularly moved by Lancashire's depiction of the character, sharing in her tweet: "Just finished @happyvalleybbc THANK YOU @SarahLancsUK @sallywainwrigh8 for a gorgeous portrait of an amazing woman."

Curtis's fans were understandably surprised and excited by the message of support, and they reacted in kind to the actor in the comment section.

One person wrote: "miss jamie lee is stanning, I know that's right!"

Hoping for a future in which Lancashire and Curtis could work together, another person responded: "I need a Jamie Lee Curtis/Sarah Lancashire team up thriller in my life"

One of Curtis's fans also responded: "Omg I love that you've watched this. Best show ever."

Amusingly, Curtis accidentally tagged the wrong Sally Wainwright on social media and so a number of followers tried to rectify the situation by tagging the Happy Valley creator.

Some fans also pointed out how Lancashire doesn't use social media much, and so took the opportunity to tag people who might be able to tell the actor of Curtis's praise.

One person tagged Daran Little and wrote: "I know you are good friends with the amazing Sarah Lancashire. Hope you can pass this on as I know she isn't on social media! There is so much love for her xx"

Others went on to recommend other shows that Curtis might enjoy including Last Tango in Halifax, which Lancashire stars in, and Gentleman Jack, which Wainwright also created.

One fan told Curtis: "You should come visit the UK and come stay in Yorkshire where the show is filmed. Sally and Sarah make a powerhouse duo when it comes to writing and acting.

"You must check out some of Sally's other work "Last Tango In Halifax" Sarah also plays a great strong character in that."

Another added: "You would love @spiceyw‘s drama Gentleman Jack. #BringBackGentlemanJack"
