A good no-nonsense bacon sandwich is a perfect way to start your day.

But there may be some disagreement with how the humble meal is prepared. In a bid to settle things, Jamie Oliver has his ultimate bacon sandwich recipe and he swaps out one of the key ingredients.

Jamie says he uses three rashers of smoky, back-bacon for each sandwich and two pieces of white bloomer bread. Jamie doesn't fry his bacon, he rubs a tray and the bacon with olive oil and grills it on "full whack" until golden and crisp.

And this is where you can use the air fryer instead. Jamie advises you to place your rashers on a single layer and cook at 200°C for three minutes.

He does say all air fryers are different so the cooking time may be different so aim for golden brown and crispy. After the bacon is done, this is where Jamie makes the swap.

Jamie doesn't use butter, he said: " I skip the butter, but push the bacon to the side of my tray and lay the bread in the fat for a few seconds before assembling, letting the bacon rashers sit on the bed of bread like spooning lovers. I simply cut mine diagonally from corner to corner and get it in my gob as quickly as possible."
