Jane McDonald's unique food hack that helped her drop four stone in new diet

Jane McDonald has shared her unique diet trick that helped her shed an impressive four stone in recent years.

The beloved TV star, 61, has been well known for her appearances on shows like Loose Women, Googlebox and Cruising with Jane McDonald, reports the Mirror. The presenter realised she needed to change her eating habits in 2017 and participated in ITV's Sugar Free Farm.

This show challenges celebrities to ditch their sugar cravings and overhaul their diets and Jane bonded with in-house nutritionist, Angelique Panagos, about her issues. The nutritionist introduced Jane to a bread recipe that became her comfort food that busted cravings.

Jane told the Express: "The only bread I eat is one that I've got a recipe for from Angelique. It's got no yeast in it and it's made with lots of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, wholemeal flour, oats and yogurt of all things."

The star explained how simple this recipe was, saying: "It's literally 20 minutes and it's made ready to put in the oven. I don't eat a lot of it but when I'm really craving a bit of starch I just get some out of the freezer and stick it in the toaster and it's done."

Jane also revealed she got rid of white carbs like pasta and flour and focused on healthier alternatives. The star managed to lose nine pounds in just two weeks while on the ITV show and completely changed her eating habits.

McDonald confessed: "I lost a stone and a half from taking part in the TV show Sugar Free Farm. I used to eat so much rubbish. I didn't realise how much rubbish I used to eat."

Jane told OK! last year a lot of people blame age for not taking on challenges and explained: "I've always loved a pie and I was very carbohydrate-led as I was always hungry. I ate far too much and all the wrong things. I didn't realise that if you eat the wrong things, it doesn't feed your body so you will want more. I like my life, and my schedule takes a lot of energy, but I was beginning to get quite tired and I was blaming it on age."

The 61-year-old thought it was "normal to have a big waist and a spare tyre" until she met Angelique who showed her it was achievable to have more energy and be slimmer in physique. After leaving the show, Jane then put what she had learned into practice and this resulted in an extra stone and a half weight loss.
