New Japanese restaurant coming to the Jewellery Quarter - when and where it will open

A new Japanese restaurant is set to open in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Maneki Ramen will be located on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal on Ludgate Hill, in the spot formerly occupied by Stirlings Bar & Lounge.

Bosses expect to refit the property this summer before opening by 'early autumn'. The restaurant will open in a Victorian Grade II-listed building at 21 Ludgate Hill, on the junction with Water Street and just 100 yards from St Pauls Square.

More than 20 jobs will be created by the new opening. Ryan Lynch, director of Siddall Jones, explained that the 4,000 sq ft bar and restaurant venue had been leased to the Rule of Tum restaurant group for around the asking price of £60,000 per annum.

Mr Lynch said: “We’re thrilled to have sealed the deal to bring such a fantastic restaurant tenant to Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter. This is a high quality restaurant premises at the heart of the professional quarter and only a short walk from Birmingham city centre.

“The area is an increasingly popular location due to its location near St Pauls Square and its proximity to the new Moda and SETL developments. Judging by the quality of their other venues, we are sure that the Rule of Tum Group will quickly establish themselves here and we wish them the very best for the future.”

The Rule of Tum Group owns and operates a selection of restaurants across the Midlands, including The Bookshop in Hereford, Leaven Pizza, also in Hereford, Burger Shop venues in Hereford and Worcester, and Maneki Ramen in Worcester.

Dorian Kirk, one of the founders and a director at the Rule of Tum Group, said: “Many thanks to Siddall Jones for some excellent work in helping us to secure an ideal property for our expansion into Birmingham. We love basing our restaurants in properties that have a bit of history and we just love the beautiful look of 21 Ludgate Hill with its period features in the great location of the Jewellery Quarter.

“We expect to be fitting out the property this summer and to be opening Maneki Ramen by the early autumn, which will create at least 20 jobs.”
