Japan's Space Agency Launches Satellite Into Orbit

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-4 Daichi-4 from Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima on Monday, July 1.

Footage released by JAXA shows the launch of Daichi-4 on board the H3 rocket at around midday local time.

The rocket “flew as planned, and approximately 16 minutes and 34 seconds after the liftoff, the separation of the ‘Daichi-4’ was confirmed,” JAXA wrote.

According to NHK, the H3 is JAXA’s new “flagship” rocket, and will fully replace the current mainstay H2A rocket. Credit: JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) via Storyful
