A new photo has emerged in the desperate hunt for Jay Slater in Tenerife - as his mother shed light on a potential new sighting. This newly obtained photo shows the teen just hours before he went missing.

The image presents a 19 year old bricklaying apprentice attending a Sunday evening rave, from which he departed with two newly-met acquaintances before vanishing the following day. He was understood to have been with friends at the NRG festival at the time.

However, leaving the event alongside two strangers met at the occasion, he went to an Airbnb located within a rugged nature reserve. Upon arising, he is believed to have ventured alone into the treacherous landscape on Monday.

In recent developments, investigators were spotted taking away discarded items from this area. The police force collaborated with rescue canines and firefighters as they carried on with the relentless search for the missing teen amidst the rocky and perilous Rural de Teno Park situated in the north-west corner of the island, known for its dangerous climate and topography.

A river named Barranco Madre del Agua tucked away at the bottom of a steep ravine was also meticulously inspected with staff carefully examining the layered fallen palm trees, reports the Mirror.

The last known location according to Jay's mobile was at Rural de Teno Park. However, his movements post around 8:30am on Monday are shrouded in mystery, leaving his mother, Debbie Duncan, in a state of distress describing the search for her boy as "an absolute living nightmare".

Ms Duncan flew to Tenerife on Tuesday accompanied by her eldest son expressing to ITV News: "He's the life and soul, he's a beautiful boy."

Jay was last witnessed by the Airbnb's owner, Ophelia, as he departed from the accommodation on Monday. As per her statement: "It's dangerous walking around here, it's easy to lose yourself. He walked up the road when I saw him for the last time. He was alone. He was walking normally, though he was fast."

To compound matters, Jay seemed to have missed the south-bound bus slated for his friends, located in a part of the island well-loved by British tourists.

In a recent development today, however, Debbie, Jay's mum, spoke about an unconfirmed sighting on Monday: "Someone has come forward to say they saw someone who they thought was Jay walking back down the road sat on a bench."

Debbie provided more details regarding this potential sighting: "He was with two men looking a bit worse for wear, and they were by a church, this guy has come forward and told the police about it and they are looking into it. We don't know if it was Jay for sure, but it's a start. They said it was about 6pm which is ten hours after he was seen by the lady in the village. But if it was him what was he doing there and who are these two men? ".

An additional piece of evidence - a startling new image showing Jay traversing a crowded dance floor - provides another link in a chain of increasingly worrying developments. This follows footage depicting Jay navigating through the club, sunglasses atop his head, as music pulsates around him.
