Jay Slater seen 'staggering back to his feet' and 'worse for wear'

Missing Jay Slater has been spotted "staggering back to his feet" by clubbers in a new video at a Tenerife rave. Slater, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, disappeared on Monday morning after attending the NRG rave on the island.

He told a friend that his phone battery was about to die and that he planned to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus, a journey that would take about 11 hours on foot. The search for missing Jay has now reached its eighth day today (Monday June 24).

Exclusive The Sun footage shows him getting up to his feet and the teen can be seen struggling to regain his balance. Jay had travelled to Tenerife for a festival before he disappeared on Monday and one partygoer, 20, said: “It was a good atmosphere, it was hard dance music and everybody was having a good time vibing away.

“I wanted to remember the moment so I started filming, then I saw a lad staggering around in front of me. You could see him get up off the ground, everyone turned there to look. They looked a bit concerned. I had no idea it was Jay at first, he was proper worse for wear. He was with a couple of lads and a girl.

“It was only after we read The Sun and saw pictures of him. I looked back my videos and my blood ran cold, knowing he was gone. All our mates seen it the next day, we were all shocked thinking it could have been me.”

He added: “There were drugs being sold but festival was well run and the security was safe. Nobody felt pressured to do anything. When you hear of the things that could happen to people it makes you question everything, a quick decision could become your last.”
