The best friend of missing teenager Jay Slater has broken her silence to post a new picture. Lucy Law was the last person to speak to the 19-year-old who has now been missing on the holiday island of Tenerife for three weeks.

She posted a picture on social media of the apprentice bricklayer, 19, who was last seen at around 8am on Monday, June 17.

Jay had parted ways with his friends on Sunday night to join other festival-goers at an Airbnb, which they reached using a hired car. He is believed to have missed the first bus the next morning and then started to walk what would have been an 11-hour trek back to his accommodation in the south of the island on foot.

His last known communication was a phone call to Lucy, before his phone battery died around 8:15 am. During the call, he expressed that he was hungry and thirsty and mentioned injuring his leg on a cactus.

She has remained quiet on social media but did issue a new picture of her with her friend.

On Thursday, his mum Debbie Duncan issued a new statement where she slammed trolls who have posted conspiracy theories about her son's disappearance online. She said the family 'were not in Tenerife for a holiday'

On June 30, police officers said they would continue to act on any tip-offs or other information that came in but the active work that has been ongoing since the apprentice bricklayer was reported missing would cease.

On Monday, detectives told a judge they have found no evidence of a crime in relation to Jay's disappearance and are treating it as a missing persons inquiry. As is standard procedure in Spain, the force have reported to a court, which has opened a routine judicial investigation.

Speaking on Monday, a judicial source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “There is no evidence of criminality at this stage in this case. That’s not to say things won’t change because the case remains open and investigations are ongoing. But right now that’s the situation."
