Jay Slater's family have vowed to continue looking for him on the island of Tenerife where he went missing almost two-weeks ago. It comes after Spanish police announced that the search would be ending earlier today (Sunday, June 30).

But Rachel Hargreaves, who is friends with Jay's mum Debbie Duncan, has said that his parents will continue to look for him with or without the help of the police. She said: "Nothing has changed. We will continue to search for him."

Ms Hargreaves is in charge of the family's official Facebook group, set up to gather information about Jay's disappearance. Her son Brad, 19, was on holiday with the apprentice bricklayer when he disappeared on Monday, June 17, The Mirror reports.

Jay went missing after he travelled to an Airbnb with two men he met on a night out. He rang his friend, Lucy Law, the morning he went missing and told her he planned to walk 11-hours back to their accommodation.

He has not been heard from since sparking a huge manhunt. A spokeswoman for the Civil Guard said: “The search operation has now finished although the case remains open.”

A well-placed source added: “The daily operation which has been going on in and around Masca close to where Jay was last seen has been brought to an end. If any information comes in that merits a new search though it will be acted upon. Nothing of any relevance was found during yesterday’s large-scale search.”
