Jeannie Kedas Joins ABC News As Senior VP Of Publicity And Communications

ABC News has tapped Jeannie Kedas to lead its communications and publicity efforts.

Kedas joins from First Look Media, where she served as chief communications officer and executive vice president for seven years.

As senior VP of publicity and communications at ABC News, she will oversee all external and internal communications and media relations, and will be part of ABC News President Kim Godwin’s leadership team. She will report to Naomi Bulochnikov-Paul, executive vice president, publicity and head of communications, Disney Entertainment Television.

Kedas also will collaborate with leaders across The Walt Disney Co. on ABC News matters and its on-air talent.

In a statement, Godwin said that Kedas will “work closely with Van Scott,” who has been vice president of communications at ABC News since 2021.

At First Look, Kedas was the first chief communications officer, where she built communications strategies for the nonprofit First Look Institute and First Look Entertainment, and helped launch Topic Studios. Before that, she worked at Viacom/MTV Networks for 18 years, including as executive vice president of communications for Viacom’s Music Group. During her tenure, she also oversaw communications for networks including MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo, led publicity efforts on award shows and oversaw consumer campaigns for shows including The Jersey Shore, Punk’d, Teen Mom and RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Kedas also served as communications director for Sen. Edward Kennedy and acted as his chief spokesperson. She started at the ABC News Washington Bureau as a production assistant.

Bulochnikov-Paul said in a statement, “Having known her for nearly two decades, I’ve been fortunate to see firsthand her passion, intellect and creativity inspire colleagues and nurture meaningful and long-lasting relationships with press – attributes that will serve our distinguished ABC News team well.”

Kedas said in a statement, “Having started my early career at ABC News, there is something so perfect about returning to the top-rated news network in this incredible role. I am looking forward to working with Kim, Naomi and the immensely talented communications team to continue to amplify the extraordinary work and journalism ABC News produces every day.”

Kedas has a bachelor of science in communications with a minor in political science from Boston University. She also serves on the board of the National Partnership for Women and Families.
