KAOS: Jeff Goldblum Is a Power-Hungry Zeus in Trailer for Netflix’s Greek Mythology Riff
The almighty spokesman for Apartments.com is now the almighty Zeus — and you don’t want to cross him.
Netflix on Thursday released a new trailer for KAOS, a darkly comedic and contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology, starring Jeff Goldblum as the “cruel” and “occasionally benevolent” Zeus who has “no idea that the plot to take him down has begun,” per the official logline.

The series hails from The End of the F***ing World creator Charlie Covell, whose take on Zeus has previously been described as “seemingly all-powerful” yet “desperately insecure” — especially as he comes to fear that his status as King of the Gods is in jeopardy. He strikes a particularly ominous tone in the video above when, after being defied by characters like Aurora Perrineau’s Riddy, he warns, “I’m gonna wipe these f—kers right off the face of the f—king Earth.”
“Having long enjoyed his status as King of The Gods, Zeus’ reign has never been truly threatened,” according to KAOS‘ synopsis. “That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Believing it to be the harbinger of an ancient prophecy which foretells his destruction, neurosis sets in: Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming. As his paranoia takes hold, the God of Gods — seeing signs everywhere — starts to dangerously self-destruct.
“And he’s right to be worried,” we’re told. “Zeus’ onetime friend and now prisoner, Prometheus, is orchestrating a plan to bring him down. The plan involves three disparate humans, all of whom are totally unaware of their cosmic significance or the part they must play in saving the world. No pressure. (Some pressure).”
The Olympic-sized ensemble also includes David Thewlis (Fargo) as Hades, Janet McTeer (Ozark) as Hera, Cliff Curtis (Avatar: The Way of Water) as Poseidon, Nabhaan Rizwan (Station Eleven) as Dionysus, Killian Scott (Dublin Murders) as Orpheus, Misia Butler (The School for Good and Evil) as Caneus, Leila Farzad (I Hate Suzie) as Ari, Rakie Ayola (Anthony) as Persephone and Stanley Townsend (Becoming Elizabeth) as Minos. Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie) and Suzy Eddie Izzard join the cast in cameo roles.
KAOS drops on Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 29. Watch the latest trailer above, then tell us in the comments if you’ll check out the show.
