Jeffersonville Library offers learning event for the family

Dec. 28—JEFFERSONVILLE — To help build their dexterity and spend some quality time with their family members or caregiver, Jeffersonville Library offered Tinker Time for children in the community.

Families gathered Wednesday at the library, 211 E Court Ave., to build with Legos, Keva Planks, magnetic tiles, Tinker Toys and more.

"We just want to make sure the kids have those milestones at the same time as they're having fun with it," said Leila Bridgewater, Jeffersonville Library's assistant reference librarian.

Each Tinker Time, the library has different activities planned for the families to do with their children. The next one may have the children building forts or one that is based all around Lego building.

In a past event, the children teamed up with either a caregiver or a friend to build with each other to encourage teamwork between the two.

"A lot of the time, adults and children don't have a lot of places to be together and have time together to create things," Bridgewater said. "This is the perfect opportunity for them to have that. We like to create different program opportunities for caretakers and their children to be able to get closer as well as our community to get closer to us."

"I like building stuff, it's good for my brain," said Kingston Warner, who attended the event.

Warner comes to the Jeffersonville Library often to events like Tinker Time and to check out books to read. When he is not reading books, he likes to build and play with his Lego sets.

"I like to read Star Wars books," Warner said. "I like the Darth Vader books. I have some at my home."
