Jennifer Garner thanks Reese Witherspoon for pulling her through one of toughest times in her life
Jennifer Garner has thanked Reese Witherspoon for pulling her through one of her toughest times.
The 51-year-old ‘13 Going on 30’ actress, said as well as the support from her film producer friend, 47, she used dance cardio to get through the rough patch.
Jennifer – who has been co-parenting the three children she had with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, 51, since they divorced in 2018 – said during a panel discussion at Hello Sunshine’s ‘Shine On’ event in Los Angeles: “I think back to going through a very public, very hard moment in my life. (Reese) was right there.”
Jennifer did not elaborate on the details of the tough time or mention her split from recovering alcoholic Ben, with whom she has daughters Violet, 17, and Seraphina, 13, and 11-year-old son Samuel.
But she added about using exercise to help: “I danced cardio-d so hard, we broke her foot, but she kept going.
“It was like, OK, we worked out at 7 on vacation, we’re going to work out again at 2. (Reese) was like, ‘I’m going to be there, I’m going to be there.'”
Jennifer also used the panel discussion to thank ‘Legally Blonde’ actress Reese for supporting her as a mum, adding: “She’ll also look at you and say, ‘OK, you need to be finding a preschool. This kid is two-and-a-half and they need to start next month. You actually have to get on this.’”
Reese is mum to Ava, 24, Deacon, 19, and Tennessee, 11, with her ex-husband and ‘Cruel Intentions’ co-star Ryan Phillippe, 49, who she divorced in 2007 after eight years of marriage.
Ben has now settled with his former flame Jennifer Lopez, 54, who has 15-year-old twins Max and Emme with her 55-year-old former husband Marc Anthony.
The pair married in July 2022 and last year Jennifer said she and Ben have an “amazing” co-parenting relationship with his ex Jennifer and they all “work well together”.
She told Vogue: “What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him.
“Someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up.”
Ben and J-Lo first got engaged in the early 2000s, but famously called it off before eventually rekindling their romance, with the ‘Good Will Hunting’ actor proposing for the second time to the singer in April 2022.
