Jennifer Lawrence's 'drunken bar brawl' story sparks backlash

Jennifer Lawrence has been working the interview circuit following the release of her new horror film, ‘mother!’.

As well as dropping a series of revelations about her life, such as just how much she loves ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, Jennifer also opened up about a drunken bar brawl she recently got involved with.

Chatting on US talk show ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’, Jennifer candidly shared the anecdote, much to the amusement of the live studio audience.

However, viewers at home were left less amused, with the actress sparking fierce backlash online.

Recalling the fight, Jennifer told Seth that it all started when a man asked her for a selfie in a Budapest bar, with the star continuing: “I was like: ‘No, thank you, no. He was like: ‘Please, my girlfriend will never believe me’.

“My girlfriend was like: ‘If your girlfriend won’t believe you then she’s not the one.'”

Jennifer said that the man continued to pester her, and started swearing when she and her friends asked him to leave them alone – which is when the actress snapped.

She explained: “I grabbed him, and I took beers, and started dousing them all over him. And I started pouring beers all over his suitcase.”

She added that it wasn’t until her friend grabbed her and told her “don’t waste beer” that she “instantly relaxed”, quipping: “I was like: ‘Of course, what was I thinking?’

“My friend came back from the bathroom, he was like: ‘Did you see that guy? He was all wet and crying.”

Writing online, Jennifer’s fan slammed the star for making light of the story.

One wrote: “This was supposed to be hilarious? It actually makes Jennifer Lawrence look like a total d*uchebag.

“Fair enough not wanting to take a selfie with someone, that must get annoying after a while, but to actually cover someone and their personal property in beer?! I don’t care how drunk you are, that’s just low.”

Others added: “I understand from a celebrity perspective you get annoyed having to take pictures all the time.

“However their response is not justified in any way and it’s not funny at all it’s despicable.”

“So she assaulted him and feels good about herself to the point where she’s telling the story? Huh?”
