Jennifer Saunders to star in Kathy Burke’s Lady Windermere’s Fan

Jennifer Saunders has been announced as one of the stars in a new season of Oscar Wilde plays.

Kathy Burke is directing a production of Lady Windermere’s Fan as part of Dominic Dromgoole’s year-long season of Wilde plays, with Saunders starring as the Duchess of Berwick.

The cast will also feature Samantha Spiro and Kevin Bishop, with further casting yet to be announced.

Dromgoole’s Classic Spring company will take up residency at the Vaudeville Theatre for the rest of a year, beginning in October.

The season kicks off with a production of A Woman of No Importance, directed by Dromgoole himself and starring Eve Best and Anne Reid.

Next year will see productions of An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest, as well as an opera version of The Selfish Giant by songwriter Guy Chambers.

There will also be a series of talks and readings, which will include appearances from Stephen Fry and Frank McGuinness.
