Jeremy Strong lines up new role after SuccessionHBO

Succession hasn't aired its final episode yet, but one of main actors has already announced his next starring role.

As reported by Deadline, Jeremy Strong will front a new production of Henrik Ibsen's Enemy of the State on Broadway. Amy Herzog, who is currently receiving critical and commercial success for her Broadway version of Ibsen's A Doll's House with Jessica Chastain.

Strong is no stranger to the theatre, having starred in A Month in the Country and A Man for All Seasons, before landing the role of right-wing news heir Kendall Roy on the HBO smash.

Ironically, Strong's role in Enemy of the State has him play a town doctor who discovers the water is poisoned, and finds that the local politicians are using their powers to silence him. It's a far cry from the Roy family using their media empire to influence politics, with Kendall trying to silence his personal enemies too.

Much has been made of Strong's method acting since he started appearing in Succession, with Logan Roy actor Brian Cox recently (and infamously) calling it "f**king annoying".

He said: "Don't get me going on it. He's a very good actor, and the rest of the ensemble is all okay with this. But knowing a character and what the character does is only part of the skill set. He's still that guy, because he feels if he went somewhere else he'd lose it. But he won't!

"Strong is talented. He's f**king gifted. When you've got the gift, celebrate the gift. Go back to your trailer and have a hit of marijuana, you know?"

In response, Strong said that Cox has "earned the right to say whatever the f**k he wants".

Succession season 4 airs on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
