Jesse Palmer Sweetly Promises Wife He’ll 'Immediately' Leave “The Golden Wedding” If She Goes into Labor

Jesse Palmer and his wife Emely Fardo exclusively told PEOPLE in August they were expecting their first child in early 2024

The clock is ticking for the arrival of Bachelor host Jesse Palmer’s first child!

Palmer, 45, began Thursday’s live The Golden Wedding broadcast by sharing that he barely made it to the festivities because his wife Emely Fardo could go into labor at any time.

“On a personal note, I actually wasn't sure I was going to make it here tonight,” he shared. “And that's because my beautiful wife Emely is at home right now and we're expecting the birth of our very first child at any moment.”

“So Emily, I know you're at home watching: I love you so much, I miss you. Please call me if you feel anything. I will leave here immediately and I'll leave everything in the capable hands of my friends,” he continued before introducing red carpet hosts Charity Lawson and Kathy Swarts.

If he doesn’t get the call, Palmer will be on hand when The Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and his fiancée Theresa Nist tie the knot in a ceremony officiated by fan favorite Susan Noles at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, California

The announcement comes nearly six months after Palmer, 45, and Fardo exclusively told PEOPLE they are expecting their first baby together, a daughter, in early January.

“I have two brothers and four nephews, so we are finally getting a female addition to the Palmer family!” Palmer said at the time. “Emely has always wanted a daughter and she is so maternal by nature, I’ve always known that she is going to be the best mom.”

The model shared that she can’t wait to meet her little girl. “I’m so excited to share life with our daughter, take her on fun adventures and share with her the lessons this life has taught us,” she added.

The baby has already won over the former NFL player. “I know our daughter is going to walk all over me — she already has me wrapped around her finger!” Palmer said, also admitting, “I’m a little nervous since I never grew up with girls in the house.”
