Jet2, TUI, Ryanair, Easyjet passengers given new 'two hour' airport rule

Jet2, TUI, Ryanair and Easyjet passengers have been given a two-hour airport rule ahead of the spring and summer getaway season. EasyJet, Ryanair, Jet2 and TUI have issued advice on how early you should get to the airport for your summer flight.

Easyjet says the majority of flights will see bag drop at the airport open two hours before your flight. If you're flying from London Luton, bag drop opens three hours before, while from London Gatwick and Manchester is two and a half hours before, it says.

Jet2 says desks will open 2.5 hours before your scheduled departure time. The airline, which flies from Birmingham Airport, says: "Please check this section of the website at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information.

"Customers are advised to arrive at their departure airport at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time. In the event of any flight delays further information can be found by using the above search panel by entering your flight number or route. As a reminder check in desks will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

"Rest assured, in the event of flight disruption our dedicated Operations teams are always working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to get you on your way as soon as possible." And TUI says on its website: "Standard check-in opens at least two-and-a-half hours before departure for short and mid-haul flights.

"And at least three-and-a-half hours before departure for long-haul flights. Arriving any earlier than this won’t mean you can check in or pass through security early." Ryanair says: ""We recommend all passengers arrive at the check-in or bag drop desk at least 2 hours before they are due to fly.

"If you have booked through an Online Travel Agent, have been required to verify your booking, and wish to do so at the airport, please make sure you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight."
