Jet2 warns passengers flying to Greece over 'ongoing' situation

Jet2 has issued a Greece travel warning as wildfires tear through islands in the European Union holiday hotspot. Jet2, which is rivalled by the likes of Easyjet, Ryanair, TUI and more, has warned as wildfires tear through an island very popular with UK tourists.

The area of Kardamena on the Greek island of Kos is currently under alert for severe wildfires. Jet2 said: "We are aware of the ongoing situation regarding wildfires in the Kardamena area of Kos. The safety and well-being of our customers and colleagues is always our first priority and we would like to advise our customers on the island to follow the guidance of the local authorities."

Jet2 continued: "Our Friendly Red Team are on hand to assist you and we will issue updates to our customers via SMS and email, should the situation change." On its website, it said: "Please check this section of the website at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information.

"Customers are advised to arrive at their departure airport at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time. In the event of any flight delays further information can be found by using the above search panel by entering your flight number or route. As a reminder check in desks will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

"Rest assured, in the event of flight disruption our dedicated Operations teams are always working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to get you on your way as soon as possible."
